Simon Bentley, Director of Leicestershire & Rutland Wildlife Trust, thanking Augean and Kings Cliffe Environmental Association (KCEA) said, "It's a really exciting season with 2 nests (3 chicks in one and 2 in the other) and, best of all, one of the nests is on a specially constructed platform in a part of the nature reserve with wonderful viewing for the public. This nest has generated huge public interest with some 15,000 visitors since Easter! See www.ospreys.org.uk for the full story and webcam images."
Conscious of the interest to the public of this local but nationally important project, KCEA recently awarded a further grant of £9,215 towards inter-active displays at the Lyndon Visitor Centre, which is a popular free attraction at the Rutland Water Nature Reserve.
