Our Chemical Treatment Centre is for the treatment of corrosive liquid waste accepted both in bulk tankers and as packaged waste.

There are two tanks with a total capacity of 100m³ enabling liquid to be treated on site using air pollution control residues (APCR).  The process reduces the alkalinity of the lime in the APCR and also encapsulates any PAH’s (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) or hazardous metal ions in the mix to produce a stabilised ash which can be disposed of at the joining Augean landfill site, without further transportation.

Examples of some of the liquids accepted are:

  • Acetic Acid
  • Boric Acid
  • Chromic Acid
  • Citric Acid
  • Ferric Chloride
  • Formic Acid
  • Hydrochloric Acid
  • Hydrofluoric Acid
  • Nitric Acid
  • Oxalic Acid
  • Phosphoric Acid
  • Sulphuric Acid
  • Potassium Hydroxide
  • Sodium Hydroxide

All incoming liquid wastes will be checked for compliance with process parameter values in accordance with our procedures.

Safety and integrity has been at the forefront of the development, so ensuring systems of safeguarding are available at each stage of the treatment and disposal process.

With the treatment and disposal being carried out within the same Augean facility, this creates a much more auditable ‘cradle to grave’ solution to your waste and ensuring even greater levels of safety and compliance.
