Application Process

On 1 October 2011 the section of the Planning Act 2008 relating to Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects for hazardous waste facilities was introduced.  Augean has been obliged to submit the project proposals to the Infrastructure Planning Commission (IPC).  Under the Localism Act the IPC was abolished on 1 April 2012 and their functions now are carried out by the Planning Inspectorate.

The application now has been formally accepted for examination by the Planning Inspectorate. The reference number applied to the application is WS010001.

A copy of the notice publicising acceptance for examination of an application for a Development Consent Order can be found here.

The objective of the process is to provide an efficient system for the planning of Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects while ensuring that communities and other consultees have a full opportunity to comment and engage in the decision making process.  The submitted application is subject to review by the Planning Inspectorate and stakeholders, followed by one or more hearings conducted by one or more commissioners from the Planning Inspectorate in which the application is examined in public.  The Planning Inspectorate will make a recommendation to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government who will make the decision.

If you want to register your interest or make known your views about the proposed

development at ENRMF to the Planning Inspectorate you must register.

Representations about the application must be made on an Application to

Register as an Interested Party (Relevant Representation) form. The relevant

representation should contain an outline of the principal issues that you wish to

raise about the application.  This outline does not need to set out the full detail

of the arguments that you may wish to make during the examination of the

application but it should contain enough information for the examining authority

to be able to understand which aspects of the application you support or object

to and the reasons why. Once you have registered you will have the opportunity

to take part in the examination process and be kept up to date with its progress.

The Application to Register form can be completed online or alternatively

downloaded from ENRMF Project page on the Planning Inspectorate website

at www.infrastructure.planningportal.gov.uk or obtained in  paper copy

from the Planning Inspectorate by telephoning 0303 444 5000.

Completed forms must be completed online or sent to The Planning Inspectorate,

National Infrastructure Directorate, Temple Quay House, Temple Quay,

Bristol. BS1 6PN. The Planning Inspectorate reference must be quoted in any

correspondence; the reference number is WS010001.

Any objection or representation must be received by the Planning Inspectorate no later than 1 June 2012.  Please note that responses and other representations will be made public.
