The more we understand the composition of waste and its behaviour through our processes, the greater our ability to minimise its impacts on the wider environment.

We have invested heavily in the latest technology and in highly-trained chemists to provide our clients timely and accurately analytical data about their waste streams.

The Laboratory Services team are able to provide analytical capabilities which cover waste characterisation and composition, waste acceptance criteria (WAC) for wastes destined for landfill, analysis of environmental waters and general analysis of wastes for acceptance to our waste networks division. Analytical capabilities include:

  • Inductively Coupled Plasma – Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP OES) used for trace metal analysis.
  • Gas Chromatography Mass Spectroscopy (GCMS) used to quantify and identify organic compounds
  • Carbon-Nitrogen Analyser to quantify organic and inorganic carbon species
  • Ion Chromatography (IC) primarily used for the analysis of anions such as Chloride and Sulphate
  • Microwave Acid Digestion
  • Ultrasonic Extraction
  • UV/Vis Spectroscopy
  • Broad range of general laboratory techniques

Our laboratory has consistently outperformed our competitors in sample turnaround and service levels and we can usually provide you with your data and a disposal or treatment option in 5-6 working days or less from sample reception. A chain of custody form should be completed and delivered with your sample to ensure the most rapid and efficient service.

To ensure the quality of analytical data, samples should be taken and transported to the laboratory in accordance with UKAS Technical Policy Statement. A condensed sample integrity brief can be found here . Alternately please feel free to contact a member of the laboratory team and we will be happy to advise you with your specific circumstances in mind.

Chemist surveys
Supported by the laboratory services team we can provide a mobile chemist where surveys and sampling are required.
