Stewart Davies Chief Executive Stewart joined Augean from Romec Ltd, where he was Managing Director for three years. Prior to this Stewart held managing Director roles at Serco, Rugby Cement and Corus, following ten years at ICI in operations, commercial and strategy roles. He studied Natural Sciences (Physics) and then a PhD in Materials Science at the University of Cambridge and is a Fellow of the Institute of Physics. From 2009 to 2015 Stewart was a Governing Board Member of Innovate UK (formerly the Technology Strategy Board), also serving on its Audit & Risk Committee, and from 2006 to 2010 he was Business Commissioner on the government’s Sustainable Development Commission. In October 2013, he was appointed as a Director of Decom North Sea, the industry forum for decommissioning of North Sea oil and gas assets.
He was appointed to the Board and became Chief Executive in August 2013.
Mark Fryer Group Finance Director Mark joined Augean in December 2016 and brings a significant breadth of financial expertise across a broad range of both listed and private companies having been Group Finance Director of Dialight PLC from 2010 to 2014 and previously of Manganese Bronze Holdings PLC from 2002 to 2010. For the past three years Mark has been Interim CFO of two private equity owned businesses, Bridon International Ltd and Nualight Limited.
Prior to this, Mark held senior finance positions at GKN plc and Cable & Wireless PLC after qualifying as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Young in 1991. Whilst at GKN plc, Mark gained specialist waste experience having been Finance Director for GKN Industrial Services division which included Cleanaway waste management.
He was appointed to the Board and became Group Finance Director on 14 December 2016.
John Rauch Group Operating OfficerJohn joined Augean in December 2016 and brings with him vast experience in driving strategic performance through operational and commercial excellence. Having held a number of senior management roles, John was previously Chief Operations Officer at Bridon International Ltd where he oversaw the EMEA and APAC regions and before that, headed up the operational strategy for IMI Norgren in his role as Operations Director, as well as holding senior roles within global manufacturing group ESAB. John’s passion is working with businesses to accelerate their capability through best practice in supply chain processes, driving agility, integrating operations, intelligent management systems, embracing efficiency and delighting customers.
Nigel Bowen Director – Industry and Infrastructure Nigel joined Augean in August 2008 with wide experience in the waste industry, following senior positions held in companies including Castle Environmental where he was Managing Director when appointed as well as Leigh Environmental. His experience includes management of landfill and treatment operations, metal recycling sites, aggregates recycling facilities as well as in the decommissioning industry involving both onshore and offshore installations. Nigel holds 3 Level 4 WAMITAB COTCs for managing treatment; managing transfer and managing landfill operations in hazardous waste; as well as a BSc (Honours) Degree in Applied Science (Resources Science) [Environmental Chemistry]. Nigel is a member of the Chartered Institute of Wastes Management and is a Chartered Waste Manager.
Edward Pigg Director - Integrated Services Ed joined Augean in June 2012 from Biffa Waste Services where he ran the Integrated Waste Management Division. He brings extensive leadership experience in Business to Business solution based sales, commercial management and service provision. Prior to joining Biffa he was Head of Sales & Marketing for Lombard Vehicle Management and has worked for brands like The AA and MG Rover Group over the last 20 years. Ed’s passion is working with clients to understand their value drivers and bring Augean’s capabilities to bear in providing innovative service solutions that deliver the outcomes they need.
Simon Gibb Managing Director, Augean North Sea Services Simon has over 25 years’ experience in the Drilling Fluids and related Waste Management activities within North Sea related service companies. Simon spent 20 years with M-I SWACO where he was an integral part of the management team responsible for building the business’s leading position in its market sector. He joined Scomi Oiltools in 2009 to assist with the management of the Drilling Waste Management business during the recession, running both the UK and Norway operations as Business Unit Director. He strategically positioned Scomi Oiltools to joint ventures on both sides of the North Sea, one part with the formation of Augean North Sea Services (ANSS) in May 2012. In his role leading this company Simon has continued his track record in growing support service businesses focused on the Oil & Gas sector.
Helen Simms Director - Radioactive Waste Services Helen has spent her entire career in the UK nuclear business and joined Augean in December 2013. As a Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers and a chartered mechanical engineer she has specialised in working in the decommissioning and defence businesses. She joins the Group following a successful career with AMEC, culminating in her role as the Nuclear Services business unit director, and more recently as Managing Director of Redhall Nuclear. Helen's key strength is in transforming and growing businesses working with customers across the nuclear sector.
Gene Wilson Director of Corporate Stewardship Gene holds a PhD from Imperial College, London, and was for 18 years the Director of Environmental Planning and Principal Ecological Consultant with MJ Carter Associates (MJCA), which provides independent advice on environmental issues to the public and private sectors. Gene directed MJCA's services in planning, environmental assessment, environmental audit, environmental management systems and waste management licensing and permitting, successfully managing these complex projects. Dr Wilson is also an experienced expert witness and has given evidence on the subjects of minerals and waste management operations, planning policy and ecology. He is also a member of the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management and the Consultation Institute. As Director of Corporate Stewardship, Gene is the health, safety and compliance champion of the Group; leads on community and internal communications and is responsible for managing our human resources. He manages a team of experienced auditors and safety specialists who ensure that operations are carried out in accordance with the risk assessments, safe systems of work and procedures specified in the Group’s Integrated Management System. Gene uses his specialist skills in obtaining operating consents, liaising with local stakeholders and managing regulatory affairs.
