Richard Allen Interim Chief Executive and Group Finance Director
Richard joined Augean in September 2010 as Group Finance Director from Kelda Holdings, the ultimate owner of Yorkshire Water and a number of water-related businesses in the UK and US. Richard held a number of senior finance roles at Kelda, latterly as interim Group Finance Director. Prior to Kelda Richard spent 10 years with the Nestle SA group and before leaving was Finance Director at Nestlé Ireland, based in Dublin.
David Unsworth Group Projects Director
David joined Augean in April 2009 following senior positions with Tradebe, Castle and Shanks where he managed a number of sales, commercial and technical teams. David has worked in the waste industry for 16 years and brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience with a focus on business systems and the development of technical and commercial processes to achieve a best in class service. David has worked with many key clients with market leading brands including GSK, Victrex and Boots to name a few whilst also advising government departments on the evolving commercial landscape within the sector.
Edward Pigg Director - Waste Network
Ed joined Augean in June 2012 from Biffa Waste Services where he ran the Integrated Waste Management Division. He brings extensive leadership experience in Business to Business solution based sales and commercial management. Prior to joining Biffa he was Head of Sales & Marketing for Lombard Vehicle Management and has worked for brands like The AA and MG Rover Group over the last 20 years.
Gene Wilson Group Technical Director
Gene holds a Doctorate of Philosophy from Imperial College, London, and was for 18 years the Director of Environmental Planning and Principal Ecological Consultant with MJ Carter Associates (MJCA), which provides independent advice on environmental issues to the public and private sectors. Gene directed MJCA's services in planning, environmental assessment, environmental audit, environmental management systems and waste management licensing and permitting, successfully managing these complex projects. Dr Wilson is also an experienced expert witness and has given evidence on the subjects of minerals and waste management operations, planning policy and ecology. Gene is also a member of the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management and the Consultation Institute.
As Technical Director Gene is the health, safety and compliance champion of the Group. He manages a team of experienced auditors and safety specialists who ensure that operations are carried out in accordance with the risk assessments, safe systems of work and procedures specified in the Group Integrated Management System. Gene has a personal role in obtaining operating consents, liaising with local stakeholders and managing regulatory affairs.
Martin Snaith Group Development Director
Martin is an engineer with over 20 years experience in the waste industry. Prior to joining Augean as Group Development Director in March 2008, Martin was Technical Director of De-Pack Ltd and previously, Senior Technical Consultant at Shanks Group PLC.
During his career Martin has project managed the construction of industrial wastewater treatment plants and has been instrumental in bringing new technologies to the UK waste industry. Martin's primary role is to direct the business into new markets and with his commercial and technical background is able to identify opportunities for the Group from work streams through to technologies. Martin's key successes to date include delivering of the Group's services into the oil and gas sectors and offshore exploration markets through both the supply chain and technology solutions.
Neil Canwell Director - Land Resources
Neil has qualifications in both accounting and information systems. He has worked in a diverse range of industries and his previous posts include Management Consultancy Partner at Grant Thornton and Change Director at University of Leeds. He also has experience as a Non-Executive Director. Neil joined Augean in November 2005 and has led and project managed a number of acquisitions for the Group and the challenges of business integration. Neil provides an important support role in Group projects including financial modelling, human resources management, IT and business systems, key legal interfacing and contract supervision.
Nigel Bowen Director - Oil and Gas
Nigel joined Augean in August 2008 with vast experience in the waste industry, following senior positions held in companies including Castle Environmental where he was Managing Director when appointed as well as Leigh Environmental. His experience includes management of landfill and treatment operations, metal recycling sites, aggregates recycling facilities as well as in the decommissioning industry involving both onshore and offshore installations.
Nigel holds 3 Level 4 WAMITAB COTCs for managing treatment; managing transfer and managing landfill operations in hazardous waste; as well as a BSc (Honours) Degree in Applied Science (Resources Science) [Environmental Chemistry].
Nigel is a member of the Chartered Institute of Wastes Management and is a Chartered Waste Manager.
