As a producer of hazardous waste you must pre-notify with the Environment and Heritage Service (EHS) at least three working days, and not more than one month, before the hazardous waste is moved.
The EHS will provide a consignment note, containing a unique code for that load, which you must complete in full.
In Northern Ireland, certain types of hazardous waste movements are exempt from pre-notification.
These include:
-
waste taken off ships in harbour
-
nor for materials being returned to manufacturers where they do not meet the specification
-
consignments consisting solely of lead-acid motor vehicle batteries.
Note: these movements still need to be accompanied with a consignment note.
