Registering Premises
You must register your premises with the Environment Agency if your business produces hazardous waste in England and Wales.
If your premises is based in Northern Ireland you must pre-notify the Environment and Heritage Service. Click here for further details
Exemptions
Though there are some exemptions to the rule, the easiest are:
- Flytipped waste
- Premises producing less than 200kg of hazardous waste in a 12 month period
Also, if your premises are listed in Regulation 23 of The Hazardous Waste (England and Wales) Regulations 2005 these may also be exempt. However, these are subject to other conditions being met and we recommend you contact us or the Environment Agency for further advice.
NB: You are not required to inform the Environment Agency if you believe you are exempt from registering. However, as the producer of hazardous waste it is your responsibility to show that you are properly exempt.

Prior to registering your premises you need to know the following:
SIC Code
