Treatment

The treatment of hazardous waste is defined by the “three point test” established in the landfill regulations. The Regulations provide a definition of treatment, from which the following test (the "three point test") has been derived.

Any potential treatment must fulfill all of these three criteria (but need only meet one of the four objectives of the third point):

Treatment technology overview:

  1. Cement Stabilisation Solidification (CSS)
  2. Physico-chemical treatment
  3. Phase-separation
  4. Container & packaging washing & recycling
  5. Biological treatment
